Unorthodox as it was, and really a bit disconcerting to see one's own life through a third party perspective, Melissa felt that it was somehow soothing. As if this was the angle from which the view was the least obscured by emotions and noise.
She'd received an official "no luck" email on Monday from the country club, but remained enthusiastic since she had two great interviews this week. One with the American Legacy Foundation and the U.S. Green Building Council. She thought they'd gone reasonably well. Coincidentally, she was only the second person either organization had interviewed for either position. They said not to worry if she didn't hear from them until the week after next. Not terribly encouraging, but there was indeed hope.
Later that day, she found herself riding the escalator down to the train again, grinning a bit too mischievously, thinking how literary/surreal/completely glamorous it was that she'd just spent the morning in an interview with a non-profit located just off DuPont Circle by the dreamiest tall dark mysterious man. Hopefully there would be enough fare left on her metro pass to get home.

Melissa, what fun to read about your adventures in the East! I'd like to email back and forth, but your gmail address doesn't seem to be working...do you have a new one? And can I get your mailing address so I can send you a thank you for the awesome shower gift? Hope you're doing well! Give me a shout sometime.
